Bidirectional GitHub & GitLab Sync
Wharby functions as a high-throughput code review overlay for Git repositories hosted on external SCM providers, including GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket.
1. Zero-Migration Architecture
You do not need to move your repository or change your remote hosting to use Wharby:
- Your repository remains on GitHub as the primary source of truth.
- When developers push to Gerrit (
refs/for/main), Wharby opens or links the corresponding Pull Request on GitHub. - Review discussions and inline comments happen in Gerrit's high-speed interface.
- When a patchset is approved and submitted in Gerrit, Wharby synchronizes the merge back to GitHub automatically.
2. GitHub App Setup
To connect a GitHub organization or repository:
- In your Wharby tenant dashboard, click Connect GitHub App.
- Grant repository read/write and webhook permissions.
- Wharby will automatically register webhooks and mirror branch references.
3. Commit Status Check Scorecards
Wharby posts unified status check scorecards directly to GitHub PRs:
- Gerrit Review Status: Reports current
Code-Reviewscore (+2,+1,-1,-2). - CI Verification: Aggregates external CI runner results into Gerrit's
Verifiedlabel. - Merge Readiness: Visual indicator when all submit requirements are satisfied.
